ABOUT
Puerto Rico Diseña features independent designers, makers, collectives and local brands that make up the island’s thriving creative community. Founded in 2013, our mission is to inspire people through design to choose local products and foster creative entrepreneurship.
We are inspired by people who do what they love and discovering new designers and products. We think small batch production and sustainability matter when it comes to design. We are driven by a big belief that this tiny island has some pretty outstanding people creating and innovating everyday and we want to share that with the world.
THE BEGINNING
We started Puerto Rico Diseña for one simple reason, to make it easy for people to discover design and quality craftsmanship. Founded by Michelle Perez Kenderish, the idea for the site was inspired in 2013 through a collaboration with Marilu Purcell, Andrea Bauza, Melissa Ramos Borges and Auralis Herrero Lugo during FAD (Feria de Arte y Diseño) an art and design fair in San Juan, in an effort to document and share the work of some pretty outstanding local makers, designers and artists.
WHAT WE DO
We support design entrepreneurship by developing commercial platforms, concept stores, curating exhibitions, designing events and creating content that promotes local talent.
